Who are these Guardians of the Sacred sites? The land spirits, the ancient Gods or our long-forgotten ancestors. My answer is all three of the above, but they don't dwell under the well-trodden concrete track or the roped off and many signed pathways. These beings reside in the hidden shadows along the way, not in the standing stones but in the burial mounds nearby, in the dense forest on the horizon keeping watch and a tally of the comings and goings of each generation.

 

It is these obscure and unhonoured shrines we will visit in these sessions. Drawn by the famous and mythical stories of each site but searching for the hidden riddles buried beyond each. It is their guidance we seek, these onlookers from afar who get a much better perspective on how we are coping in our time.

 

By asking firstly permission, then gifting offerings and taking advice on the direction of our vision quest, we will allow the voice of the forgotten to be heard once more and heed their navigation beyond the veil. To listen, observe and hopefully understand their message. To be authentic in everything we do and respectful of their sovereignty, at all times.
